Randolph Bailey, M.D. - Colon/Rectal Surgery

Randolph Bailey, M.D. - Colon/Rectal Surgery H. Randolph Bailey graduated from Rice University before attending University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He completed a surgical internship at Parkland Hospital and his residency in general surgery at the University of Texas Medical School/Hermann Hospital. Dr. Bailey also completed a Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship from Ferguson-Droste-Ferguson Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is licensed by the state of Texas. He is certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.

Dr. Bailey’s awards and honors include the Crohn’s Colitis Foundation of America Surgeon of the Year, an American Cancer Society “Partners in Courage” Honoree, the Rice University Distinguished Alumni Award, the Hermann Hospital George Waldron Award for Outstanding Surgical Resident, the Hermann Hospital Violet Keller Award for Outstanding House Staff Member, the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, and Phi Beta Kappa at Rice University. Good Housekeeping magazine named him in its listings of “The 318 Top Cancer Specialists for Women,” (1999) “Best Cancer Doctors in the U.S.” (1993) and “400 Best Doctors in the U.S.” (1991).

Dr. Bailey is currently a clinical professor of surgery and the emeritus director of the residency training program for colon and rectal surgery at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, a consultant and adjunct professor for the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Division of Surgery, and a clinical professor of surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. Bailey is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the International Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, and the Texas Surgical Society. His professional memberships include the American Medical Association, the Harris County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, the Houston Surgical Society, and the Texas Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is currently a member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Surgeons.
